A angolan airline TAAG assured today that the strike of maintenance technicians will require the cancellation of only two flights per day until Thursday.

Angola Airlines launched the contingency plan against the strike decreed by the Union of Aircraft Maintenance Technicians (STMA) for four periods, the first of which between October 11 and 15.

In a statement, the Angolan company indicates that on the first day of strike, on Sunday, it ensured all 37 scheduled flights, “without registering any cancellation”.

For the next days of the shutdown, by Thursday, TAAG “plans to ensure between 94.9% and 95.3% of scheduled flights, with only two cancellations scheduled per day”.

“ This result reflects the effectiveness of the contingency plan implemented by the company and, above all, the professionalism, competence and sense of responsibility of its employees, whose commitment has been decisive to ensure the continuity of the operation, keeping the safety of passengers as an absolute and non-negotiable priority ", reads in the statement.

The Administration of the Angolan air carrier ensures that “no measure to ensure operational continuity can compromise the safety standards required for commercial aviation”.

“ All flights carried out comply with the maintenance, airworthiness and safety requirements established by the competent authorities without any relaxation of the applicable technical procedures”, as stated in the statement.

The company further clarifies that passengers affected during the strike period, with scheduled trips between October 11 and 15 and tickets originally issued until October 10 may request changes to their bookings or reimbursement by November 15.

TAAG reiterates that it maintains “the availability for dialogue with the STMA in the search for balanced and sustainable solutions that value professionals and safeguard the company’s commitments to passengers”.

The strike follows the negotiation process between the company and the STMA, in which it has not been possible, until now, to reach an understanding of the demands of the Union.

The company presented a 20% salary increase proposal, but the STMA maintains a claim that foresees a cumulative increase of 100% by December 2027.

The strike notice includes four periods of stoppage between 11 and 15 October, 06 and 10 November, 05 and 10 December and 19 and 23 December 2026.
