O Arbitral Sports Court (TAS) will announce “at the end of November” the decision on Senegal’s challenge to the award of the African football title of 2025 to Morocco, today revealed this appeal body, based in Switzerland.
After the hearing, held in Lausanne on 8 October, TAS confirmed that the panel of arbitrators, which includes Frenchman Gérald Simon, Italianman Luigi Fumagalli and Germanman Ulrich Haas, plans to disclose his judgment in November
“ This process requires several weeks and the TAS report is expected to be issued at the end of November 2026”, reads in the press release of the court.
On 25 March, the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) appealed to the African Football Confederation (CAF) decision to proclaim Morocco the winner of the 2025 African Nations Cup (CAN2025), demanding that it be annulled and Senegal again proclaimed champion.
The final of CAN2025, played on 18 January 2026, in Rabat, was marked by a great penalty marked in favor of Moroccan hosts, already in time of discounts, which, in protest, already after a goal previously cancelled in their favor, led the Senegalese to abandon the playing ground.
After 15 minutes of interruption, the two teams returned and, in conversion, Brahím Díaz allowed the defense to the Mendy goalkeeper, referring the decision of the meeting to the extension, phase in which Pape Gueye scored for the Senegalese the only goal of the meeting and then the second title to his country.
However, on 17 March, after appealing to the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), the CAF Discipline Committee punished Senegal for abandoning the lawn, applying the 3-0 defeat penalty in the final and delivering the trophy to Morocco, also its second.
