Sthe information provided to EFE was cancelled 220 flights on Saturday, while today 165 operations were cancelled, between departures and arrivals.
Despite the airport manager Aena does not usually disclose aggregated data on cancellations because she considers that this information is for the airlines, the company's source indicated to the news agency that about 200 flights will have been cancelled this Sunday.
The airport manager does not have Saturday numbers. In addition, it did not establish a direct relationship between cancellations and the temporal.
According to the weather stations near the airport, the precipitation accumulated on Saturday reached 80.3 liters per square meter, almost twice that recorded during the storm last Tuesday.
Civil Protection does not have data on delays, but according to the list published by Aena, 51 flights scheduled to depart between 3:00 and midnight this Sunday were marked as delayed. The total number of delays over the weekend should therefore amount to several hundred.
In addition, according to the ‘Flightradar’ flight monitoring portal, 247 flights were cancelled on Saturday, equivalent to 24% of operations, while 510 were delayed, about half of the total.
The number of cancellations and delays this Sunday is lower than that of Saturday, with 165 and 297 flights, respectively, but remain well above the usual values in situations of rainstorm.
Last Tuesday, also due to a storm, 113 flights were cancelled, corresponding to 11% of the 1,009 planned operations.
