“In the summer of 2027, the airline will add Ponta Delgada, Heraklion and Thessaloniki to its network. Tickets to these destinations will be for sale from 16 September next. With these additions, Transavia responds to the growing demand of Belgian customers for accessible flights within Europe and North Africa,” Transavia, in a statement, today.
The French-Dutch company recently established a local crew base at Brussels Airport.
Since 2022, Transavia has already connected Brussels to Faro and, earlier this month, announced a new route between Brussels and Porto with three weekly flights starting on 14 December.
The third link from Brussels to Portugal from the low-cost company has now been announced for João Paulo II Airport in Ponta Delgada, on the island of São Miguel, the largest of the Azores archipelago.
“Belgium is an important market for Transavia. Since the beginning of our operations at Brussels Airport, we have been building our presence in Belgium step by step. We started with two planes, added a third one, and recently we settled a fourth aircraft in Brussels,” said Transavia Netherlands Executive Director Paul Terstegge, quoted in a statement.
In the summer of 2026, the Azores had operations from 16 airlines, 30 routes and connection to 12 countries, revealed in July the regional secretary of Tourism, Mobility and Infrastructure, Berta Cabral.
For nine months the archipelago has recorded annual falls in the number of overnight stays in tourist accommodation, according to the latest figures of the Regional Statistical Office of the Azores (SREA), released at the end of July.
In the first half of 2026, the Azores totaled 1.8 million sleeps in tourist accommodation, less 4.6% than in the same period, and 578.4 thousand guests, less 3.6%.
Transavia, the low-cost airline of the Air France-KLM group, operates almost 400 air routes from France, the Netherlands and Belgium to Europe and to the Mediterranean basin.
In 2025, Transavia France transported some 16 million passengers.
