O American President Donald Trump announced today that he will officially prohibit the use of the term “Artificial Intelligence” in government documents because he considers it inaccurate, defending its substitution by the term “Super Intelligence”.

In a social network publication Truth Social, Trump criticized the use of the expression artificial intelligence (IA), which he classified as “a very bad and incorrect name”, proposing the adoption of the designation Super Intelligence (SI).

“ Soon, we will officially prohibit the term ‘AI/Artificial Intelligence’ in all relevant documents and everything else, due to its inaccuracy’, wrote the President, without specifying when the measure will enter into force.

Trump also wondered when The Wall Street Journal will stop using the expression AI to adopt the new designation, which, he said, “practically everyone is already using or will soon use.”.

The head of state had announced in September, during the United Nations General Assembly, the intention to replace the expression artificial intelligence in official US documents.

At the time, he argued that the word “artificial” conveys the idea that technology is “false”, when, in his opinion, it is something “extraordinary”.

By the end of September, Trump further stated that Chinese President Xi Jinping had shown interest in the proposal during a conversation between the two on the occasion of a visit by the Chinese leader to the White House.

Artificial Intelligence is one of the main areas of technological and economic competition between the United States and China, having been addressed at the meeting between the two leaders.

Trump has advocated the acceleration of the development of this technology in the United States and opposes international regulatory initiatives that he considers likely to limit US competitiveness.

The development of Artificial Intelligence has raised concerns about its potential effects on employment, the economy and security.

The theme also entered the campaign for the U.S. mid-term elections on November 3, due to voters' concerns about the electricity and water consumption of the data centers necessary for the operation of AI systems.

Meanwhile, the announcement of the possible official adoption of the term Super Intelligence, abbreviated as SI, has led to an increase in the demand for Internet domains associated with Slovenia: the European country, with about two million inhabitants, uses precisely the national Internet extension “.si”, which coincides with the acronym proposed by Trump.
