O president of the United States, Donald Trump, said this Monday that it is time for someone else to negotiate the end of the war in Ukraine other than the current president, Volodymyr Zelensky.
“ Maybe it's time for Zelenksy to ask someone else to negotiate“, Trump said, quoted by Reuters.
It is recalled that about a week ago, the US President argued that Ukraine should go to elections to elect a new president.
In statements to journalists, Trump also stressed that Russia has behaved “good” towards Ukraine.
“They [Russia] have not done much,” he said, adding, however, that the United States continues to share intelligence information with Ukraine and that it would be considering allowing Ukrainians to remain in the US under temporary protection until the end of the war.
To recall that today the suspicion about a possible trilateral meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin, US President Donald Trump, and China President Xi Jinping.
The discussion arose after a report from the Wall Street Journal had advanced that Putin had suggested this meeting to Trump and Xi Jinping, not including the Ukrainian President, because the Russian president seeks to negotiate an end to the war favorable to Moscow.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has already criticized the concept of a summit among those three leaders, arguing that only a meeting between Ukraine, the USA and Russia could help speed up the end of the war.
Kremlin's spokesman, Dmitri Peskov, has already acknowledged the ongoing mediation efforts of the US to resolve the situation and admits that Ukraine's involvement would be necessary for any definitive peace agreement.
Trump says Ukraine should have new president
Donald Trump said on October 10 that “it is time for Ukraine to have a new president.” The statement emerged one day after being criticized by Ukrainian head of state, Volodymyr Zelensky, for reaching an agreement with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, on the sale of diesel.
“I suggest you get a new leader who can reach an agreement,” Trump said after being questioned by journalists in the White House about the agreement he reached with Vladimir Putin on the supply of Russian diesel.
“ I think it’s time for Ukraine to have a new president,” he shot.
Trump also accused Zelensky of “wanting to create problems in the world” by attacking Russian refineries, arguing that such attacks had an impact on the global supply of diesel.
