“ Nit was not a decision that we took lightly, because it will have a concrete impact on our teammates and friends”, said CEO Dara Khosrowshahi, in an internal message sent to the company’s employees, published on Uber’s website.
“ All affected employees have already been notified, except in the countries where we will follow the local procedures required ", it has done.
These changes “regard the way we are organized and our priorities, not anyone’s contributions to Uber,” according to the CEO.
The multinational manager states that the decision is part of a series of organizational changes that go through the end of “hierarchical levels, simplification of team structures” and the redefinition of the “global strategy of the location” of human resources and investments.
Khosrowshahi states that the structures that made sense when the company was smaller no longer fit the current Uber scale.
“ The changes we are implementing today aim at two things: making Uber simpler and faster and creating more capacity to invest in our future,” the manager said.
The company’s CEO has ensured that the savings generated by the restructuring will be reinvested in growth, innovation and the development of a “autonomous future”.
Uber will reduce the number of workers at seven or more hierarchical levels below the CEO by 20% and reduce the number of micro-teams of managers by almost 50%.
