A Russia today attacked energy infrastructure in the Jitomir region of northern Ukraine, said the region’s Chief Military Administration, Vitali Buchenko.
The attack took place after US President Donald Trump announced an alleged truce agreement with Moscow and Kyiv to prevent both parties from attacking their energy infrastructure.
Ukrainian head of state, Volodymyr Zelensky, indicated that “it is important that the truce should take place”, but denounced that during the last few days Russian attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure have not ceased.
“Ukraine wants peace; the question is whether the same is true of Russia. We hope to know clear details of the dialogue between the United States and Russia and hope that [the President of Russia, Vladimir] Putin will comply with what Trump said,” he added.
Zelensky had already stated in a speech to the country on Sunday night, recorded hours after Trump's announcement that Russia had attacked an electric power station in the Kharkiv region of northeastern Ukraine.
In the meantime, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense indicated that Russia hit a ship in the Black Sea last night and four locomotives in the Ukrainian regions of Odessa and Dnipropetrovsk,
On the other hand, Russian anti-aircraft defenses shot down 151 Ukrainian drones last night without attacks on refineries.
According to the Moscow Ministry of Defense, unmanned aircraft from Ukraine reached 10 regions of Russia, the peninsula annexed to Crimea and the Black Sea.
Moscow City Mayor Sergei Sobianin said today that 16 drones were shot down by anti-aircraft defenses in the vicinity of the Russian capital.
Over the Kaluga region, located 260 kilometres southwest of Moscow, 37 unmanned aerial devices were neutralized.
So far no damage has been reported in Russian essential infrastructure, particularly refineries, which in recent months have been the constant target of Ukrainian drones.
Russia invaded Ukraine in 2014 annexing the Crimean Peninsula and launched a large-scale military offensive against the entire Ukrainian territory in 2022.
