A new York stock market closed today without clear direction, but with investors saluting the recovery of the technological sector, despite the context of prudence before the results of the US elections were known today.
The result of the session shows that the Nasdaq technological index advanced 0.83%, the extended S&P500 won 0.36 and the selective Dow Jones Industrial Average increased 0.38%.
“ The purchase of artificial intelligence (IA) securities was the engine of the market”, after several sessions of strong contraction, marked by the return of concerns about massive investments in this technology, summarized the analysts of Briefing. Com.
The semiconductor conglomerates and other electronic components, in the first line of the AI enthusiasm, closed high, such as Nvidia (2.29%), Advanced Micro Devices (3.65%)Micron (2.58%), Broadcom (3.07%) or Intel (0.97%).
On the contrary, Apple fell (-1.90%, after having released Monday a reduction in its growth in the last quarter of the year, between 7.0% and 10%, and a corrosion of profits by rising memory circuit prices, despite having been a record quarter thanks to iPhone.
Meanwhile, investors are watching the results of today's elections, with which Democrats hope to regain control of Congress and thus seek to stop Donald Trump for the rest of his term.
According to Jose Torres, of Interactive Brokers, “a complete change of power is the greatest fear” of investors, since “he fears that a new majority will change the AI regulatory framework, with a strengthening of constraints”.
But, on the other hand, Democrats can “increase surveillance of the management of the war by the government” and “strengthen pressure in favor of a diplomatic solution when Congress takes office in January,” said Ipek Ozkardeskaya of Swissquote.
