A new york stock market has now ended in a dispersed order, with investors guarding themselves as inflation information approaches and an additional time of dissemination of results.

The result of the session indicates that the selection index Dow Jones Industrial Average advanced 0.38%, while the technology Nasdaq lost 0.44% and the extended S&P500 yielded 0.06%.

“ Investors are holding their breath, in expectation of a confirmation that the market was right to reach historical levels” a few days ago, said Sam Stovall of CFRA in statements to AFP.

In the macroeconomic plan, consumer price indices (IPC) and producer (IPP) are expected on Wednesday and Thursday for September.

“ If the figures on inflation continue to surprise by its strength, that will not be good, because for now Wall Street hopes that the Federal Reserve (Fed) will not raise the reference interest rate at its October meeting ", predicted Stovall.

The US central bank decided in September to raise its reference interest rate to halt the rise in prices. The investors expect this to continue at the next meeting, according to the survey by the CME FedWatch observatory.

A decision that does not meet expectations can penalise the stock market, one that has led investors to believe that a tougher monetary environment harms companies' profits.

For now, companies continue to grow. The profits of S&P500 members are expected to grow by 30% in the third quarter, estimated Forex Fiora Cincotta. Com.

The big banks (JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, Bank of America, Morgan Stanley) are opening the result season this week.

If the expectations for results and forecasts are “too high”, companies must overcome them to be rewarded on a stock exchange, Stovall understands, because “informal estimates are probably higher than official forecasts.”.

Today, Wall Street was not affected by the Yemeni rebels' attacks on Saudi Arabia, which raised the oil quote.

And investors remain confused after Donald Trump’s unilateral announcement of “an energy ceasefire” between Ukraine and the Russian Federation.
