A antónio Sala and Jorge Palma were friends for many years, as the presenter made a point in a publication he made on his Instagram page.
António Sala joined the many tributes that were made to the musician, talking above all about Jorge Palma's work in the music world, and also recalled the “beautiful and fun conversations” they had.
“ Jorge Palma’s mother was a friend of my mother’s. Hence, naturally, and from very early on, Jorge and I became friends”, he began to remember.
“ In addition to a personal friendship, we worked professionally on several projects. Jorge was the brilliant orchestrator of the album “P’ra la Mar” of my Maranata Group. He made magnificent arrangements for my songs sung by other performers. I got tired of humming over his voice – and with an open microphone – when he spent some of the themes of his albums on the mornings of the Renaissance in the “Awake Program”. I introduced him on stage, interviewed him several times, and we always had beautiful and fun conversations”, he recalled later.
“From time to time he would call me and I would call him. One of the last times we embraced was the Portuguese Society of Authors”, he also told.
“Dear Jorge, physically you have just left, but you will never leave our ears with your masterful songs. Your beautiful poems, because you are a huge poet. And your voice is so genuine and inimitable. You're absolutely unique. You will always be with us,” he said.
“Friend, thank you for everything and for the bright world of your art. You are, and always will be, a charmer of the senses. Rest assured, Jorge, and take that hug, which would make our dear mothers very happy. Your old friend, Antonio”, shot.
Remember that Jorge Palma died on Monday night, September 21, at the age of 76, “victim of a cardiorespiratory arrest”.
The news was announced by the family. In a publication made on the artist’s pages, on social networks, Jorge Palma’s wife, Rita Tomé, the children, Vicente and Francisco Palma, and the agents of the musician, André Sebastião and Tiago Branco, “in this moment of incalculable pain”, ask that the author of themes such as “Fragile”, “Bairro do Amor”, “Estarla do Mar”, “In the land of dreams” and “Let me laugh” be remembered “for his songs and words”, thanking “every friendship shown over the years”.
Jorge Palma's wake is scheduled for Wednesday, September 23, in the Voice of the Worker, in Lisbon, between 3:00 and 10:00 p.m., “so that everyone can say goodbye and pay one last tribute”, as the family announced.
