Fans suspend Rayo Vallecano-Athletic for protests against the leadership

O rayo Vallecano-Athletic, of the eighth day of the Spanish Football League, was suspended today by the referee, due to repeated throwing of paper planes and other objects for the lawn, by the fans of the Madrid team.

The match, played at Vallecas Stadium, was interrupted twice before referee José María Sánchez Martínez decided to suspend, after the players were sent to the access tunnel to the locker rooms at the second interruption.

The first stop occurred at 14 minutes and lasted for seven, while the paper planes were removed from the playing ground.

Before the suspension, the captains of the Rayo Vallecano, Isi Palazón and Óscar Valentín entered the turf to talk to the fans of the Bukaneros cheerleading.

In a statement, the Spanish League announced that the new date and time of the meeting will be announced soon, condemning the “repeated throws of objects” to the playing ground, which endanger security and prevent the normal development of the competition.

The protest of the supporters of Rayo Vallecano aims at the management of the club's president, Raúl Martín Presa, whose departure has been required for several months.

The meeting marked Rayo's return to his stadium for a championship game, after having played three matches as a visitor at the Butarque Stadium in Leganés due to the safety conditions of the premises, which led to the temporary suspension of the use of the enclosure by the Community of Madrid, owner of the stadium.

The Athletic Bilbao takes the ninth place, with nine points in six games, still having to compete for the meeting of the sixth day, in front of the Levante, Luís Castro, postponed due to weather conditions and scheduled for October 21.

Rayo Vallecano also adds nine points, in seven matches, and occupies the 10th position.
