A singer and multi-instrumentalist Ana Lua Caiano edits today “Slowly life is short”, an album that “feels between urgency and reflection” and has several guests, including Stereosaur, Bandua and Edgar Valente.
Ana Lua Caiano’s second album, according to the artist’s agency in a statement, “is emerging as a reflection of contemporary life, but haunted by themes deeply rooted in the traditional narratives of various cultures: death, impermanence, exhaustion, transformation and fragile illusion that there will always be more time”.
“ In an album that conveys restlessness, Ana Lua Caiano expands her own universe, continuing to be a progressive and transgressive artist in the way she creates music. It is the machine of instruments and sounds trying to return humanity through its poetry, the artifice always in favor of what is human”, reads in the statement.
The album, composed of 15 songs, features Bandua, Edgar Valente, Sages Comme des Sauvages, Stereosaur and Tempura the Purple Boy.
In the new work, to the sounds characteristic of the previous debut album and EP, “a greater emphasis is added to the keys, piano, breaths, vocal harmonies and a work of overlapping increasingly unsettling and unbridled”.
“ Slowly life is short” is edited by German Glitterbeat Records, similar to the artist’s debut album.
Ana Lua Caiano’s first album, “I’m staying in this square”, was edited in March 2024. The album succeeded the EPs “I arrived late yesterday” (2022) and “If dancing is only later” (2023), in which Ana Lua Caiano was already author of lyrics and compositions, sang, played and produced.
In the EPs, he felt that he did not have enough “autonomy” or “know enough to finish” the work and, therefore, he had help in the part of the production, he recalled in an interview with Lusa in March 2024.
On her debut album, she's taken care of everything by herself, and the only person she collaborated with was musician Elly Janoville, and only because she can't play the flute.
Ana Lua Caiano hopes that what he creates, using traditional instruments such as aduff, drum or wooden toy, but also boxes of rhythms, keyboard, synthesizers or loop stations, “make think, reflect on something”.
“I talk a lot about reality and everyday problems, not imagined realities. It’s not autobiographical, but it’s things that worry me and that I hear, it’s a little mirror of some concerns I see”, he said at the time.
“Slowness that life is short” begins today to be presented live.
Ana Lua Caiano begins today, in Braga, at the gnration, a tour by clubs, which, until the end of the year, also passes by Ovar, Coimbra, Viseu, Tavira and Torres Vedras.
In January, the tour includes concerts in Lisbon on the 21st, in the Lux-Frágil, and in Porto on the 28th, in the Casa da Música.
In February, Ana Lua Caiano begins an international tour, which includes dates in cities such as Madrid, Barcelona, Milan, Antwerp, Brussels, London, Berlin, Munich and Paris.
