A Apple announced this week its first foldable in the form of iPhone Duo, a mobile phone that adopts a design with dimensions similar to a passport and that, as the most attentive will know, has already been adopted by other companies – such as Samsung, Xiaomi and Huawei.
However, Apple's marketing manager, Greg Joswiak, says in an interview with tom’s Guide website that the other manufacturers were only able to launch their models because they copied what the Apple Company was doing.
“People knew through leaks that we were working on a foldable”, said the executive. “ Unfortunately, they hit the ratio of the screen and there were many coincidences that people found this ratio interesting.”.
It must be remembered that the three mobile phone manufacturers mentioned above launched foldables with a design similar to the iPhone Duo during this year of 2026.
The first was Huawei which officially announced the Pure X Max. Samsung followed, which officially confirmed the existence of Galaxy Fold 8 in July. Finally we have Xiaomi, who at the beginning of September unveiled the Xiaomi 18 Fold.
On the other hand, Joswiak was pleased with how the iPhone Duo was received by the public. “ I'm very proud that we've managed to keep this a secret. We applied extra security. We did not talk about it with anyone”, told the executive.
Remember that the iPhone Duo will be available in stores from October 23rd, with the pre-sales period starting on October 16th. The price starts at 2,399 euros.
