The financial institution has more than 9,700 employees in Portugal and is expected to exceed the 10,000 barrier by the end of the year.

At the same session, Finance Minister Miranda Sarmento pointed out that the Portuguese economy is growing and becoming increasingly resilient, especially after the covid-19 pandemic, and that employment is reaching its peaks.
Unemployment is low, wages are increasing, as exports are happening, he added, highlighting sectors such as tourism, technology and other services.
Still, the ruler stressed that the national economy “is small”, and it is necessary to transform it to increase productivity.
In this sense, he defended “structural reforms” in areas such as the labour market, human capital, tax system, innovation and science and infrastructure.
This adds, as pointed out, the need to attract investment in areas such as industrial, energy transition and data centers and artificial intelligence.
In a statement released after the ceremony, BNP Paribas pointed out that its activity was responsible in 2025 for 1% of the total value of services exports in Portugal.
The bank has 10 companies operating in Portugal – Arval, BNP Paribas Asset Management, BNP Paribas Cardif, BNP Paribas Corporate & Institutional Banking, BNP Paribas Factor, BNP Paribas Leasing Solutions, BNP Paribas Personal Finance (Cetelem), BNP Paribas Real Estate, FLOA and Nickel.
The financial institution is present in 64 countries and territories, employing more than 180,000 people.
