A wall Street stock exchange traded mixed at the beginning of the session with the artificial intelligence (IA) companies recovering and the price of oil falling to levels below $100.
At 14:50 (Lisbon time), industrialist Dow Jones was the only one down, 0.21% to 51,891.79 points.
The S&P 500 aggregate earned 0.51% to 7,698.87 points and Nasdaq technology advanced 0.99% to 26,398.88 points.
Oil was falling today, with the price of the reference generic Brent barrel contract in Europe, falling 2.67% to 106.93 dollars and that of the reference West Texas (WTI) barrel in the United States of America, falling 1.82% to 99.56 dollars, after having recorded a strong rise last Friday to almost 110 dollars, caused by fears of supply disruptions due to tensions in the Middle East.
Most of the AI chips and data centres costs come from borrowed money, and the yields of Treasury securities on the bond market have recently reached their highest levels in decades.
CoreWeave, a company that has contracted loans to buy AI chips that rents customers through the cloud, has been at the heart of market changes. Your quote went up 3.2% on Monday, but only after you lost more than a quarter of your total value last week.
Nvidia rose by 0.8% and was one of the main forces to boost the S&P 500 today, and because it is the largest company in terms of market value, a 1% change in its quotation has more impact on the index than any other.
