Ias part of the European Mobility Week, the second edition of Mobility Day, which takes place on Tuesday at the Tecnico Innovation Center in Lisbon, advocates a collaborative approach to meet the challenges facing the major cities today, said to Lusa the TVDE Director of Bolt Portugal.

According to Mário de Morais, the objective of the meeting is to “strengthen dialogue” among all actors in urban mobility, from public transport operators to representatives of local authorities, government entities and technology companies.

“If the city is for people – our motto – mobility must include everything that exists,” said the person responsible, justifying the company’s involvement in the organization of the initiative and also reinforcing that “mobility should be thought together rather than by isolated sectors.”.

For Mário de Morais, the event is distinguished, among others, under the theme of mobility and cities, by focusing on citizens, creating a space where different sectors of mobility can discuss common solutions to improve travel in cities, acting to Bolt as “a facilitator of dialogue” and thus assuming the role of aggregator of the sector.

One of the central themes of the conference will be the recent revision of the TVDE law, which has been in place for about three weeks, which remains on the agenda, not only because it took eight years to be reviewed, but also because of controversial positions regarding the possibility of taxis serving TVDE.

According to Mário de Morais, the new legislation represents a recognition of the importance of the sector in the mobility of the Portuguese and establishes bases for improving the operating conditions of professionals, without compromising the interests of users.

Another theme that will mark the day of debates is the articulation between public transport, taxis, TVDE and shared mobility solutions, said Mário de Morais.

The person responsible argued that the future of mobility in cities goes through “a greater coordination of the different modes of transport, allowing for more efficient networks and reducing dependence on the private car”.

The concept of the so-called ‘last kilometre’ (Last Mile in the English name) will remain one of the areas where TVDEs can play a relevant role, serving links between railway stations, transport terminals and final passenger destinations.

On Mobility Day by Bolt there will still be time to discuss the role of autonomous vehicles and the question “How close is the future.”.

Mário de Morais also revealed that Bolt continues to develop research and innovation projects in partnership with the University of Zurich and several European cities.

In Lisbon, the company participates in initiatives to improve the management of urban mobility, while in Porto a project is being prepared that aims to study the response of public transport and shared to situations of traffic disturbance, such as accidents or road cuts, explained the person responsible.
