“ Mais than a day of open doors, the ‘Day of Boomland’ is an invitation for communities to celebrate this collective heritage with us”, said the leaders of Boom in a statement sent to the agency Lusa, referring to Herdade da Granja, in Idanha-a-Nova, in the district of Castelo Branco, where the festival takes place every two years.
Alongside receiving the festival, the estate has been “a place where [since 2010] projects that benefit the landscape, biodiversity and regeneration of the land – always in a sustainable way”.
The leaders of the Boom Festival aim to develop there “a project of human transformation where culture, art, festivals and environmental awareness live in harmony”.
“The interest and support we felt from the communities and the region were fundamental to the decision we made in 2010 and then consummated at the end of September 2016, to continue investing in the Interior, in Idanha, through the acquisition of Herdade da Granja, the ‘Boomland’,” they recalled.
A decade after the acquisition, Boomland Day intends to celebrate the relationship established between the organization and “the various communities living in this territory of Castelo Branco district”.
On 26 September, between 09:00 and 19:00, with free entrance, there will be nature-guided routes, “to discover the environmental projects that are awarded worldwide”, and visits oriented to sculptures and permanent art pieces scattered throughout the estate.
The program also includes concerts, dance workshops, yoga, “thought for children, young people, adults and families”.
The gastronomic component will have a menu inspired by the different cultures of the region, created for the “Boomland Day” by Miguel Rocha Vieira, ‘chef’ distinguished with Michelin stars and with roots in Castelo Branco district.
“The well-being and the connection to an ecosystem, which calls for the best of us, are the axes of this meeting”, highlighted the organization of the Boom Festival.
The intention is to hold the “Boomland Day” annually, attracting “nationals, locals, new and old, immigrants, all”, to “cross the knowledge and traditions of the region with the culture of ‘Boomland’”.
