Funited in November 2021 with a concept “of barbecue inspired by the Brazilian tradition, adapted to the national market”, the Braza network has two new openings planned for this year: at Almada Forum in October, and at the Birth Park in November.

Since its foundation, and including the two openings scheduled for 2026, the group claims to have invested around six million euros.

The company does not disclose, questioned by Lusa, the absolute values of invoicing and net result, but progresses to have recorded a 150% growth in sales in 2025 compared to 2024, predicting to close 2026 with a new 80% growth compared to the previous year.

In Braza's plans is also increase the number of employees of current about 150 to 180 by the end of this year, with the entry into operation of the new units.

In the present month of August, the company estimates to serve more than 100,000 customers in the 11 restaurants in operation in Porto (Mercado Bom Sucesso, Via Catarina and NorteShopping), São João da Madeira (Centro Comercial 8a Avenida), Maia (Maya Shopping), Braga (Braga Parque), Guimarães (Spaço Guimarães), Coimbra (Alma Shopping), Lisbon (Atrium Saldanha), Amadora (UBBO) and Vila do conde (Vila do Conde Fashion Outlet).

Pointing to the shortage of professionals as one of the major problems in the restoration sector, Braza highlights that it has strengthened the focus on people management through “career plans, continuing training, leadership development and more structured integration processes”.

“ For many years, the priority was to fill vacancies. Today we realize that the real challenge is to create conditions for employees to want to build a career with us. The stability of the teams has a direct impact on the quality of the service and the sustainability of the business ", says founding partner and director of operations of the restoration chain, José Luiz Penha.

Thus, in the last two years, the company conducted 91 internal promotions involving 52 professionals, with each employee receiving more than 60 hours of training in the last year, between theoretical and practical components.

José Luiz Penha points out that the results of this bet “also begin to reflect on the retention” of labor: According to the company’s internal data, ‘turnover’ (employee turnover rate) recorded a reduction of 7,29 percentage points, equivalent to a relative fall of 11.3%.

In 2024, the Association of Hotels, Restoration and Similarities of Portugal (AHRESP) estimated that there was a deficit of about 40,000 workers in the hotel and restaurant in the country, with 45% of the companies participating in an association survey claiming not to have enough workers to ensure the best quality of service, especially in the functions of desk and counter (76%) and kitchen (64%).
