A BYD decided to face competition in Japan with one of the most popular car types in that country – the so-called kei car, light cars that are very cut out for the cities.
According to Nikkei, the manufacturer will have decided to take the technology which served as the basis for its model – Racco – to other markets around the world to develop new small electrics. AND ed Europe will be in the plan.
Remember that the European Union will have a category of small cars (up to 4.2 metres long) – which may have certain benefits provided they are manufactured locally. The Chinese manufacturer is about to start producing in Europe with the immediate opening of his factory in Hungary.
The idea of BYD is to develop small electric cars, taking advantage of other markets of technology debuted in Japan. More specifically, the battery set X-Pack, self-development.
It is a concept that incorporates the inverter and other electrical components, installing everything under the vehicle floor – which helps maximize space and safety compared to the more conventional designs.
And this is essential in models that have to be contained in their dimensions. Taking the same approach to vehicles to other markets could be an added value at the level of sales and financial return for the project. A launch is expected for the next few years.
In addition to Europe, technology could also be introduced into small electrical models in South America and Southeast Asia, where there is also strong demand potential.
