A Ovar City Hall has been the subject of a computer attack and has its system inoperative, today revealed the municipality, which will have all municipal services closed to the public by the end of next Wednesday.
According to official source of the municipality, the situation was detected “this weekend” and the case has already been reported to the police authorities, now the municipality “to fulfill all legal responsibilities” in the matter.
“At once, the response procedures were activated, and a technical team was found working on the containment [of the problem] and on the [its] evaluation and recovery as soon as possible, in conjunction with the competent authorities,” Lusa told the City Council.
Since the computer system across the main departments of the municipality is “inoperative”, the House has chosen to close them: “All municipal services will be closed to the public until Wednesday, October 21, inclusive.”.
This applies, in concrete, to the services of Care, Urbanism and Veterinary, to their online counterparts and EcoLine, as well as to the Single House of the Building, to the Ecocenter, to the Art Center of Ovar, to the School of Arts and Crafts, to the School Museum Oliveira Lopes and to the House-Museum Júlio Dinis.
Given that the activity of some of these services often involves legal deadlines, the Chamber reassures its users: “The Municipality of Ovar will suspend all deadlines of the administrative procedures that are under way, ensuring that no municipality is harmed.”.
With normal functioning, at least within what is possible to anticipate at this time, will be the Citizen Space, the Municipal Market, the Municipal Pool, the Library, the Entrepreneur Space and the Cemetery, as well as the online platform of educational services SIGA and the telephone line for specific service in Urbanism matters.
“The municipality will continue to monitor the situation permanently and seek to resolve the matter as soon as possible,” the House announced, committing itself to providing updated information to the community “through the official social networks of the municipality.”.
