A executive president (CEO) of Adolfo Domínguez group, Adriana Domínguez, states that at the moment there is not a very stable macroeconomics and that the fashion business is for adventurers.

Although it is a family business – with 50 years of history – Adolfo Domínguez is listed on a scholarship.

Therefore, “dynamics is, to a large extent”, that of a quota, “an international company that has 1,002 employees. Therefore, the first thing I say is that it has been a huge responsibility and a great honor to be able to carry this legacy for another 10 years, moving forward to the future”, says Adriana Domínguez, in the form of balance of his leadership that he took in 2017.

“It has also been a great challenge because the world constantly changes,” he points out, pointing out that the covid-19 pandemic was “a factor of enormous disruption, because in the retail, it meant that all stores remained closed for many and many months in a row — an extremely difficult situation,” the manager reports.

In fact, “in many markets it lasted about a year and a half” and in Japan it “has lasted three or four years”.

Then, when the situation seemed to begin to move forward, suddenly “a war” arose and “this brings together problems with transport and fuel”, he listed the CEO of the Spanish fashion brand.

“So I don’t think we’re living in a very stable macroeconomic scenario right now,” says Adriana Domínguez, saying that the world is always “a little shaken up.”.

He says he tries to find inspiration to bypass these challenging scenarios in his own family.

“My father went through a situation where a fire destroyed the entire company in 1991,” he says, reporting that it was “something terrible” and whose recovery “called for an immense effort.”.

In addition, “my grandparents, who founded the business, came from a civil war and faced a post-war economy”, which was also extremely difficult, says the manager.

“ So I try not to be a dark person. I believe that, in the business world, it is essential to maintain an optimistic and positive attitude because “this is the only way to make things happen”, says Adriana Domínguez.

“ I'm learning a lot, I've always learned. I am a curious person”, he continues, when asked about the balance sheet he makes in front of the group.

“ Today, we have a young company that welcomes the changes and feels comfortable to keep changing, but at a personal level, I can say that it has been a great challenge: the world is challenging and fashion is also challenging”, he stresses.

Also because fashion involves 1,200 different references every six months”, that is, “the product changes constantly, which makes it very difficult to know what will be sold and what will not be”, he says.

So, “it’s definitely a business for adventurers,” he says.

The company started in Ourense, Spain, in 1950, as tailoring and making shirts, and adopted the name Adolfo Domínguez in 1976, having the brand first presented itself at Cibeles in 1980.

In 1997, Adolfo Domínguez became the first Spanish fashion company to enter Madrid.

After the impact of the financial crisis in 2008 and a period of losses, the company moved to a new phase, with Adriana Domínguez taking over the executive presidency.

In fiscal year 2025/26, which ended in February, it made a profit of €1.64 million, an increase of 81%, and revenue grew by 1.84% to € 139 million.

Currently, the fashion brand has 379 sales points in 54 countries, with 43.4% of sales being made internationally.
