O ceasefire located on the outskirts of Oleshky, a city in southern Ukraine under Russian occupation, ended today at 22:59 locals (20:59 from Lisbon), after several days of truce that allowed the withdrawal of residents.
“ During this period, the parties complied with their commitments. This made it possible to deliver humanitarian aid in Oleshky and help civilians who wanted to leave the city safely,” said Ukrainian human rights mediator Dmytro Lubinets on Telegram, adding that he is now working with his Russian counterpart, Yana Lantratova, on new “humanitarian initiatives”.
Previously, France Presse (AFP) had reported that a senior head of the Ukrainian Presidency had informed that Russia had refused to extend the ceasefire outside Oleshky, a city in southern Ukraine occupied by the Russian army.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has put forward “a proposal to prolong this ceasefire”, but “the Russians do not want it,” the same source told AFP.
Neither Kyiv nor Moscow reported violations of the agreement, unlike other partial ceasefires, such as during the Orthodox Passover.
