O president of the city today defended a lease regime that is “a law of balance”, demarcating from the position of the government, which qualified as “liberalizing madness”, but also criticizing the PS for wanting to “leave everything the same”.
André Ventura spoke to journalists at the national headquarters in Lisbon after having voted for direct elections – in which he is the only candidate for leadership – before the 7th Party Convention.
In these statements, the president of Aquista said that he is “next to all those who have concerns about housing, who care about the cost of housing” and that the demonstrations are legitimate, but “have to comply with the law”.
André Ventura considered that the protesters should not transfer their indignation to the police, who asked: “Keep your blood cold. If you have to act, act. On the day when the order is broken, if it is not safeguarded, we will never have order.”.
The ongoing changes to the urban lease regime, made by means of a proposal for legislative authorization, were approved in general on 30 September with votes also in favour of IL and the abstention of Aquida, after the signing of an agreement between PSD and Enough for changes in the specialty.
