O president of Cávez, André Ventura, announced this Friday that the party presented “around 600 changes” to the State Budget for 2027, essentially focused on reducing people’s cost of living and trying to relieve their fiscal pressure”.
According to the party leader, in the Lost Steps of the Assembly of the Republic, these proposals highlight the “descent of fuel VAT”. “After spending the summer saying that the PS had done everything possible for the descent of fuels, after voting against the law of the Enough to lower it, the PS was unable to submit a proposal to this end. It does so via ISP, as António Costa had done, but without touching the essential issue of injustice and fiscal pressure that is to keep the VAT of fuels at the limit and in the echelon as it is today”, he stressed, adding that “this is why the Aquida presents a proposal to ensure that it fulfills what it had promised to people, contrary to what they did PSD and PS”.
About the price of food and the meal allowance, Ventura also said that “a fifteen cent increase in the food allowance is inconceivable”.
But the focus was on another proposal. “There is a proposal that we do not give up and that I understood, and I have indicated to the parliamentary group in this sense, which is an image of the coherence and insistence of Aquis from the point of view of public policies: the decline in retirement age”, he reinforced.
According to Ventura, it is “fundamental to start a trajectory to lower the retirement age in Portugal”.
He also considered that “it is worth nothing” to approve amendments to the lease law if the State Budget for next year does not include measures to help with the increase in the cost of living.
“If the government does not understand that it is worthless to have a very elaborate income law, if people do not feel in their pockets, in their lives, in their housing costs, the impact of these budgetary measures, this legislation will not have been worth anything,” he said.
Asked if the Aquiva will make the approval of the amendments to the law of the rents of the inclusion of its measures in the OE2027 depends, André Ventura replied: “In the agreement we made it was clear that in order for there to be any change to the rental legislation at this stage it is necessary to reward or compensate people for their income.”.
He also said that the “budgetary measures are not the shivering of the rent law, they must be the realization of what was required in the rent law, which is the protection of taxpayers at the time when their incomes begin to be seriously affected by the housing crisis”.
According to André Ventura, 50 of the 600 proposals are for housing. “There is no point in having new rental regimes of this and that, new horizontal property regimes, new vertical property regimes, rustic property regimes, if we cannot return to people a part of what they spend on housing costs. And I think the government understood and is part of what we promised our voters and taxpayers,” he said, considering that the two issues are “intimately linked”.
It is recalled that the parties have already submitted more than 2,500 proposals to amend the State Budget for 2027 (OE2027), and today is the last day of the deadline to do so. This is a new record, surpassing the maximum of 2,176 proposals last year.
