Dafter periods of heat and little rainfall, the rain is returning to mainland Portugal and is expected to stay for the next week. However, temperatures should rise.
According to the weekly forecast of the IPMA, in the week from November 9 to 15, the precipitation may be “abundant” in the continental territory.
“The presence of a depression centered northwest of the Iberian Peninsula, which influences the state of time since Friday, day 6, and that moves slowly eastward, will give rise to precipitation bands throughout the week”explain.
Already Sunday, November 15, “it will be the only day when the probability of precipitation is low”. In turn, in the “North coast, rain may be persistent in some periods, with significant weekly accumulated”.
IPMA also indicates that “the depression will induce a flow from west/southwest, carrying an air mass of tropical characteristics that will contribute to rising temperatures”.
“ The high water vapour content of this mass of air may give rise to periods of fog and low clouds, which at the highest points may give way to fog”, he says.
And he adds: “The maritime agitation along the west coast will increase, becoming strong from Tuesday, the 10th, with the probable emission of weather warnings.”.
Regarding the predicted temperatures, the IPMA points out that the maximums will be between 12oC and 22oC in the North and Center. In the southern region, between 18oC and 24oC and 17oC and 23oC in coastal zones.
The minimum will be between 5oC and 16oC in the North and Center. In the southern region, they will be between 8oC and 16oC and between 9oC and 19oC in the coastal zones.
It should be remembered that the IPMA warned for rain, wind and sea agitation on the continent as of this Sunday, due to depression Bruna, which is expected to affect the country by November 13.
According to weather forecasts, the continent will feel the effects of depression Bruna, initially with the approach of an associated frontal system, from the beginning of Sunday morning, November 8th, and with the passage of successive frontal ripples “at least until the end of next week, on 13th”.
