A chinese city of Yichun in Heilongjiang province set a new Guinness world record by serving 2,500 portions of a traditional dish in just one hour.

The challenge, which took place on September 10, in Jirong Square, was to serve 2,500 portions of shazhucai, a traditional dish based on pork and pickled cabbage, in just 60 minutes.

Ultimately, the aim was to make known the flavors and folk heritage of traditional cuisine in northeastern China. In case, shazhucai is a hot stew that includes almost all parts of the pig, cooked with pickled cabbage, noodles and tofu.

The dish was prepared in a stainless steel pan specially designed for the event, having 4.2 meters in diameter and capacity for three tons, according to the Chinese press.

The challenge was supervised by an official of Guinness World Records, who made the new record established by the city official.

Along with tasting, the population was also offered traditional artistic shows, as well as questionnaires with prizes and draws.
