O minister of the Interior of France said today that “it is not at risk” the play between Paris Saint-Germain and FC Barcelona, on Tuesday, of the League of Football Champions, despite the violent protests in the country.
“ We've considered the possibility of postponing some events. This question is not about the game between PSG and Barcelona. The game is not at risk,” said Laurent Nuñez, on the eve of the third day of the most important European club event, which was won by the Parisian club in the last two seasons.
The French capital was the scene of violent protests against rising cost of living during the weekend, but PSG’s coach, Luis Enrique, said today he hoped that the biggest sighting meeting of this European round in Príncipe Park could take place “under normal conditions”.
Some 2,400 people were arrested on Saturday in France during protests against rising cost of living, marked by violence, and 997 police officers and agents were injured, of which seven were in serious condition.
According to an assessment by the Ministry of the Interior, the authorities held 2,397 arrests, with multiple episodes of violence and looting, and went out on the streets in protest, 550,000 people. The organization says they participated 800,000.
