Kylian Mbappé granted an extensive interview to this Wednesday edition of the German newspaper Bild, in which he addressed several topics, among them, the fact that Cristiano Ronaldo continues to be called to the main selection of Portugal, at the age of 41, something that he considers impossible, one day, to happen to himself, in France.

“ Let's be honest, given the country I play for... France will never let me play until I'm 41 years old, but Cristiano proves that if you're physically and mentally fit, you can play as high as this for a long time. However, in my case, I do not believe that this is possible”, he said, among laughter.

In this interview, the French international also spoke of another reference of Portuguese football, more specifically, of José Mourinho, the coach who ‘his’ Real Madrid acquired from Benfica last summer, to face the crisis of sports results, which culminated in the resignation of the Spanish Álvaro Arbeloa: “He is simply the Special One.”.

“José Mourinho is extremely intelligent, and that is why he has been able to achieve such a great success throughout his career. He's very close to us, the players, he's very interested in us. He's a leader. He knows exactly what motivates us. It is a privilege to play under his orders”, he reflected.

Secret negotiations with Klopp in private jet were “truth”

However, the revelations did not stop here, and Kylian Mbappé confessed that Germany’s new selectioner, Jurgen Klopp, tried to ‘turn it’ to Liverpool, even before he traded AS Monaco for Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2017, for a sum of EUR 180 million.

Asked about the rumours surrounding secret negotiations that would have taken place on a private jet, which went round the Principality to avoid being detected, the French international shot: “Yes, it is true. It was something special, but great. And quite honestly, I would have loved to join him then.”.

“At the time, I wasn’t ready to leave my home country. I wanted to go back to my hometown, Paris. I had only played at AS Monaco for a year, and I needed my family surroundings to feel comfortable. That’s why I went to PSG”, unveiled the 27-year-old advance.

“Klopp is one of the best coaches in the last 20 years. Mourinho, Klopp... These are the kinds of coaches all the professionals would like to play under. It's just wonderful to see you back at the benches. I am very looking forward to the next game against him”, he added.

“It would be disrespectful to advise Olise leaving Bayern Munich”

In conclusion, Kylian Mbappé focused on the rumors that have been bearing Real Madrid's interest in hiring his compatriot, Michael Olise, from Bayern Munich: “I am aware of speculation, but I myself know that feeling too well. When I was a PSG player, there were numerous rumors.”.

“ I think it would be disrespectful to advise a player to leave. That would be unfair to Bayern Munich, especially given that Bayern Munich is a fantastic club in which Michael can achieve great achievements. But one thing is clear, every club in the world would love to have Michael Olise. He is an extraordinary player”, he concluded.
