Tough decision! Rita's sister Pereira changes his life and leaves his profession

A rita Pereira's sister decided to change her life. Joana Pereira left this year the profession of primary teacher to embrace a new professional project, also linked to education.

The big news was shared through a video published on Joana Pereira's official Instagram account. 

“ So today I come here to make this video for all of you who follow me, for all the people who value my work and who have always considered me and for whom I am very grateful. Who always told me that I should play games, that I should write books for children, that I should teach other people in the area and, mainly, to all the parents who told me over these years that they would love me to be a teacher of their children”, he began by declaring.

Rita Pereira's sister continued her speech by reading a letter through which she explained her motivations to leave teaching.

“ I'm beginning to tell you that I've been coming here for a few years to reflect a lot and I've made one of the hardest decisions of my life. This year, I decided to stop teaching. Saying this costs me, because everyone knows how happy I am every day going to school.”

Even though she stopped practicing as a primary teacher, Joana Pereira promised not to leave education. 

“ I'm not leaving education, I'm choosing a different way to be in her service. Nowadays, I have had an impact on every small class that I accompany and that takes me every year”, said, without explaining exactly what will be your professional occupation from now on. 

“ If I can get to those who deal with children, I'll be able to get to a lot more children than I've ever gotten to in my classroom. I realize I'm risking it, but I also feel like this is the moment of my life where I can do it. I am more mature, I have no children, I am free to try, to fail and to start over”

Rita Pereira's sister also pointed out that she also had weight in her decision that the teaching profession in Portugal was not properly valued. 

“ I also never identified myself with the idea that I should be born, choose a job, do it for years and die, not explore other opportunities in life.

But I am not leaving because I do not love the profession, I am leaving because I feel I need to do something beautiful and useful with what this profession has taught me.”

Although with “fear” of what awaits, Joana Pereira remains convinced and ready to “find out how far a teacher can reach when she is no longer limited to the four walls of the room”.

“ I'm counting on the love and support I've always been used to and I've never stopped feeling. They supported me in the pain and I know that they will support me in the joy and achievement of my new projects that will always be for your benefit, the education and pedagogy that is in line with the idea that it is possible to learn through play ", ended.
