Odemocrats reached the majority in the U.S. Senate in the mid-term elections on Tuesday, withdrawing President Donald Trump's Republicans from control of the two chambers of Congress, according to projections of various media.

The Democratic majority in the Senate, achieved after the House of Representatives, is advanced by NBC and CNN channels and the AP agency, which project the defeat of the Republican candidate in the decisive state of Iowa.

With the count still ongoing in the states that have already closed the polls, the Democrats ‘stealed’ from Republicans five other bastions – North Carolina, South Carolina, Ohio, Texas and Kansas – with 51 seats projected in the Senate (100 seats).

The Iowa feat was Josh Turek, who beat Republican Ashley Hinson.

The countdown for the Senate is still in nine states, so the Democratic majority will be able to increase, with their candidates ahead in Maine and Michigan.

In Kansas, the Republicans lost to the Democrats a seat in the Senate they held since 1932, raising to five losses in Tuesday's mid-term elections projected by the US media.

In an election in which 35 seats are at stake in the Senate, Democrats James Talarico and Sherrod Brown were awarded as winners, respectively, by Texas and Ohio.

After having taken the Republicans a seat in the Senate by North Carolina, Annie Andrews was also given as a winner in the CNN and NBC projections, in the race to the place of South Carolina that was of the late Senator Lindsey Graham, and to which he advanced his sister, Darline Graham, with the support of President Donald Trump.

In nearby North Carolina, Democrat Roy Cooper won the Senate race, the first place to be taken to the Republicans tonight in the upper chamber of Congress, where the Republican majority is at risk.

CNN and NBC point out that Cooper beat Republican Michael Whatley in a state where President Donald Trump's party has comfortably won the last elections.

The projections also show that Democratic Senator Jon Ossoff, who had the place at risk, won the mid-term elections in the state of Georgia.

Ossoff, one of the potential presidential candidates in the 2028 elections, beat Republican Mike Collins, and the victory was quickly anticipated by CNN and other media projections such as NBC and AP.

In the same state, but in the race to the House of Representatives, Democrat Jamie Ager had the same success as Ossoff, winning a seat to the Republicans.

According to projections from various media, Democrats reached the majority in the House of Representatives in the mid-term elections. NBC projects that Democrats should reach a majority of more than 70 seats – 255 to 180 Republicans, according to data still under update.

More than 60 million Americans voted in advance — almost 15 million more than in the mid-term elections of 2022. The level of turnout at the polls will have set records in several states.

In the seven states — Maine, Ohio, Iowa, Kansas, Texas, Michigan and Alaska — where it is defined who will control the upper chamber, early participation was also higher than that recorded four years ago (with variations between 41% and 5%).

The projections also point to the victory of Democratic Senator Mark Warner in Virginia.

CNN also designs Democratic victories in Delaware (Chris Coons), Illinois (Juliana Stratton), Massachussets (Ed Markey), New Jersey (Corey Booker) and Rhode Island (Jack Reed), which polls predicted.

Democrat Chris Pappas is given as the winner of the Senate elections by New Hampshire, as is party colleague Julia Stratton in Illinois.

Pappas should become the first openly homosexual man to join the Senate.

AP, CNN and NBC also win the Democrats in Oregon (Jeff Merkley), Colorado (John Hickenlooper) and New Mexico (Ben Ray Lujan).

For Republicans are projected victories in South Dakota (Mike Rounds), Wyoming (Harriet Hageman), Kentucky (Andy Barr) and Oklahoma (Kevin Hern) – all foreseen in pre-election polls.

According to the same bodies, Republican Shelley Moore Capito is expected to hold her place in West Virginia, such as Tom Cotton in Arkansas, Bill Hagerty in Tennessee and Barry Moore in Alabama.

CNN, NBC and AP also project the victory of Republican Ashley Moody in the special election to the Senate in Florida, a place held by Marco Rubio until he was appointed Secretary of State for Trump administration.
