Uthe fire destroyed a beach resort in southeastern Bangladesh today, causing 10 deaths and four injuries, according to the authorities.

The fire broke out at the Tuptup Resto and Resort in Inani, in Cox’s Bazar district, a popular destination among local tourists, according to Syed Mohammad Morshed Hossain, assistant deputy director of the District’s Fire and Civil Defense Service.

The flames appeared in the morning and quickly spread through the three-story wooden structure of the tourist resort, which is near the Bay of Bengal.

“ Some people took refuge in the bathrooms to try to save themselves, but eventually died there. It was early in the morning and the guests of the tourism unit were asleep,” said Saiful Islam, a volunteer, stating that women and children were among the victims.

The cause of the fire has not yet been clarified and the authorities have announced that they have determined the opening of an investigation.
