O Vitória de Guimarães, from the I Football League, today ensured the passage to the fourth elimination of the Cup of Portugal by defeating Lamelas, from the fifth echelon, by 1-0, in a match played in the Sports Complex of Castro Daire.
After a well played first part, in which the Lamelas was reduced to 10 elements, Miguel Maga managed to overcome the guardian Dani Dias and stamp the only goal of the match at 79 minutes, ensuring the continuity of the Victorians in the race.
The elimination, played in ‘house’ loaned to Lamelas, Club of the Honor Division of the Viseu Football Association, began the ‘half-gas’, with scarce offensive production of the two teams.
Although the Vitória has more space and possession of ball, it revealed difficulties in playing on the back of the defense of Lamelense, committed to reducing the chances of passing visitors, who played four great opportunities, mastered by the guardian Dani Dias.
The Minho group eventually dominated the last 10 minutes of the first half, when Lamelas was in numerical inferiority, after the expulsion of Ruizinho by accumulation of yellows.
The second part started with a careful shot of Alanzinho in charging a free in favor of the Victory, fought by Dani Dias, followed by a ‘fire’ of the midfield of the Captain Lamelense Paulo André, who forced Lucas Furtado to a two-time defense.
At 65 minutes, the guardian of Vitória, who debuted for the minhoto emblem, returned to ‘fly’ to defend a heading of Edgar Lopes, while Dani Dias again stood out by denying ‘sung goals’ to Mitrovic and Camara.
At 78, after the Lamelense guardian defended a first attempt by Camara, the ball remained for Maga that filled the foot and inaugurated the marker in Castro Daire's Sports Complex.
In the final stretch of the match, while Lamelas tried to contain the opponent's transitions, the Vimarans sought to expand the advantage, but without success.
With this victory, Vitória de Guimarães secured the passage to the fourth elimination of the Portuguese Cup, while Lamelas is out of the competition.
