Sthe negative contribution of net external demand to the annual GDP change was reduced in the second quarter, with more intense export growth than compensated for the acceleration of imports.
On the other hand, the positive contribution of domestic demand decreased, mainly reflecting the slowdown in investment.
In quarterly terms, there was an acceleration of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth to 0.8% after increasing by 0.1% in the previous quarter.
“ The contribution of net external demand was decisive for this development, as it passed -2.0 p.p. to +0.7 p.p. as a result of the acceleration of the Exports of Goods and Services and deceleration of the Imports of Goods and Services”, explains the INE.
The contribution of domestic demand, in turn, was reduced due to a decrease in investment.
