Um high official of the U.S. Department of State stated, on condition of anonymity, that Flávio Bolsonaro and the family will receive visas to the United States, information that the Brazilian media had already confirmed.

“The State Department will issue visas to Flávio Bolsonaro and his family and allow them to enter the United States,” said the responsible, on Tuesday, quoted by the Associated Press news agency.

Bolsonaro is being investigated for corruption, money laundering and tax evasion in Brazil and received an order from the Brazilian Supreme Court (STF) to deliver all his passports, including a diplomatic passport and one from Italian citizen.

The head of the State Department did not reveal whether Bolsonaro had already left Brazil or is travelling to the United States with his family.

The Brazilian President re-elected Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva told a few dozen supporters at the door of the presidential residence in Brasilia that he did not have accurate information about Bolsonaro's whereabouts, but stated that he had left Brazil.

Bolsonaro's campaign director Rogério Marinho said he hadn't spoken to the defeated candidate since early Tuesday morning.

“ We haven’t heard from Flavio or his lawyers about what happened,” Marinho said. “I received a text message from him, in which he said he wanted to take a break and then talk to us. That was the only message I received from him,” I told the journalists.

The Brazilian media reported on Tuesday that many Bolsonaro allies could not reach him.

American President Donald Trump, who gave express support to Flávio Bolsonaro in the presidential race, was also questioned and assured that he would grant visas to the Brazilian senator and his family.

“Well, I would approve. I think they're good people. The election was very strange, and I thought it was terrible. She's been getting bad reviews. See what happened to their market,” Trump told journalists.

When asked about the whereabouts of the family, the head of state was more evasive, but still stated that he had “heard” that he was in Argentina.

The Argentine Ministry of Security denied that the Brazilian senator had entered the country.

The possibility of Flávio leaving Brazil if he lost the elections had already been announced by his brother, Eduardo Bolsonaro, currently a fugitive from Brazilian Justice, and residing in the United States since 2025.

Flávio Bolsonaro's escape occurred one day after being subpoenaed by the Federal Police, by order of the Supreme Court judge Alexandre de Moraes, to deliver all passports he owns within 24 hours, and to have been forbidden to leave Brazil.

Moraes' decision is part of a lawsuit in which Flavio and a friend, attorney Willer Tomaz, are investigated for money laundering, in an alleged scheme that would involve Tomaz companies and a betting platform.

The senator of the extreme right is still the subject of an investigation of the Supreme Court on suspicion of money laundering in the financing of the film “Dark Horse”, a cinemabiography of the father, former President Jair Bolsonaro (2019-2023), who is arrested for failed attempt of coup.

On Monday, the day before leaving the country, Flávio Bolsonaro published a video on social media that ensured that he would never leave Brazil, and that he would deliver the passports to the police authorities.
