News to Minutes

O Volkswagen Group faces difficulties that require drastic cuts, including the reduction of the model range by 50 percent announced last week and the extinction of 100,000 jobs in the coming years.

A Porsche is one of the marks of the german conglomerate and you must not escape unharmed. Because last year there was a sharp fall in profits (99 percent).

In the first half of this year, it saw a 16 percent decrease in sales (122.306) compared to the same period of 2025.

And according to Bild, there are two candidate models to be discontinued – the successor of Taycan to combustion and the Cayenne Coupé.

But they're not the only ones potentially affected by the cuts. The Volkswagen Group also wants a more simplified structure of each model to better focus on its resources and investments. And so the mythical Porsche 911 could lose variants.

The idea of the conglomerate is simple to understand: Oliver Blume, executive director, stressed that he wants each model to sell more, so the offer is “constantly” to be “perfected”.

Already certain is Porsche Macan’s exit from the scene the combustion – which, after reaching the end of Europe in 2025, will also have its global farewell with production ending at the end of this month.

Long-term strategy

Porsche AG Group has a long-term plan in motion (Strategy 2035) announced last year, which aims to ensure the attractiveness of the car brand and achieve profitable growth.

There was a retreat in the electrification plans, due to the slower adoption of this type of engine. However, Stuttgart remains committed to different technologies, from pure combustion to 100 percent electric, through the plug-in hybrids. Still, it aims to have a less complex and improved portfolio.
