O the national basketball championship had its first Classic of the season at the Dragon Arena, with FC Porto receiving the eternal rival Benfica during the early afternoon of Sunday, in a meeting to count for the second day of the national race.

The match was won by the house team, in which it was a repeat of the end of the last season and which saw the group of porters winning the title that had been won by the eagles four years in a row. This time, the final result was a blue and white triumph, by 93-86.

After a victory for Benfica in the derby in front of Sporting, on the first journey, it was the turn of an ever-complicated journey to the Dragon Arena, where he lost the chance to sagra himself national champion last June.

The game even began with a positive series of incarnates, which took off in the middle of the first quarter, with a sequence of seven consecutive points that led to the result for 7-17. On the horn that marked the end of this partial, the result was 16-26, with the margin of the eagles to be 10 points.

The lack of effectiveness of FC Porto was causing the margin not to reach the 0 points, but still the second period ended up with a positive balance for the blues and whites, who were packed by their supporters on the benches, to support with intent to help their team recover and relaunch this game.

The break came even with a disadvantage of five points for the porters, who gained some impetus with the triple Miguel Queiroz, which was achieved at the sound of the horn and... of the midfield, at a time that led the Dragon Arena to delirium.

Benfica came back with everything after the return of the locker rooms, even having a 13-point advantage for FC Porto, which began to hit its releases, namely triples, to shorten the distance and, near the end of the third partial, arrive for the first time in the match to the advantage in the scorer, even though the game went to the last quarter with a 72-point draw.

But the blue and white efficacy was just about to stay and the eagles could not get an answer, always behind the damage and even having a negative margin of nine points at a certain time of the meeting, which closed even with a result of 93-86 for the porters.

Highlight Aaron Broussard's exhibitions (24 points and eight points) and Luke Barrett (19 points and nine points) on the Benfica side, while the dragons had the points slightly more divided, with Thomas Bropleh (17 points and seven points) and Corey Allen-Williams (15 points and five assists) standing out individually.

Thus, FC Porto rises to the leadership of the classification table and isolates itself from Benfica and Sporting who have already lost one game each, with the other two teams remaining with a 100% victorious record to be Ovarense and CD Póvoa.
