FC Porto swung, but Farioli warns: “Now let’s calm the emotion”

Right victory from FC Porto today? Yes, I think we deserve it clearly. We have had many opportunities to potentially close the game earlier, but we must bear in mind that the level of the opponent we have faced is very high. We competed very well in a fantastic environment in the Dragon, which pushed us a lot, and the players performed fantasticly.” 

Two completely different opponents; however, did the game built serve some form of rehearsal for this challenge in which FC Porto also had to make a larger game? “ I think good displays and, of course, the results – but above all certain exhibitional levels, details and spirit – always help. In a way, the good things we did in Viseu, with many moves, what we did this weekend and what we did today are, of course, interconnected. I am very happy for the result and for adding the first points to start our walk in the Champions League.”

And this journey will end by believing in the passage of FC Porto? “ Let's play the game. There's still four more games to play. Now is the time to change the focus, to recover, to calm the emotions and to prepare the trip to Guimarães in front of the Victory, which will be very difficult.”

I was just talking to Diogo [Costa] about a recovery of power from FC Porto's battery, and I gave Gabri Veiga as an example: he took it to the break in Barcelos, rested with the Academic and is now in shape, already in the game with the Star and today. Was this moment important to recharge batteries in some players for FC Porto to display this way? “ I believe a lot in this management and also in giving minutes to others, because from the game of Viseu many players began to add game time. Today Santi's entrance was fantastic; it's no coincidence that the 90 minutes he did brought him very good things. It was extremely positive at various levels. As for Gabri, this morning he was sick; when he left I told him that he should always be like this, to catch the same virus.”

About Santi Giménez. Is there also a player of extreme intelligence, the way he found Samu in the goal? “ He did very well, had a great impact and was decisive in at least two moments. They competed very well. There are many good things to take away, either for the result or for the performance of all players. These boys clearly deserved to achieve this first victory.”
