A Cultural and Recreaive Association of the Matrix, located in Póvoa de Varzim, issued a statement this Saturday stating that it did not authorize the last day of neonazi music festival, which was scheduled for today.
Remember that hundreds of people gathered on Friday night for the first day of the third edition of the neonazi music festival “Master of the Sea”, an event that is organized in secret by Blood & Honor Portugal.
By the beginning of last night there were already more than 200 people from various nationalities gathered there, reported the Jornal de Notícias (JN).
“Following the news and the questions raised regarding the use of the A.C.R. Matrix facilities, the Board considers it important to provide the following clarifications”, can be read in a communication shared on the Facebook social network.
The Directorate explains that “the space was requested by a private person to hold a birthday party, with musical animation and live bands”. “That was the purpose communicated to the association and that was the basis of the known authorisation”, points out.
In this way, he adds, “he sought to validate the information available and acted in good faith, and there was no indication at the time that it would allow the framework that was later known to be anticipated”.
“ The noise permit was requested from the City Council on the basis of the information transmitted. It should be clarified that the municipality also did not fully know the effective purpose and the framework of the initiative”go on.
The direction of the association holds that “as soon as he was aware of the information that contradicted the initial assumptions, he decided to cancel the permission to use the space and developed the steps at his disposal to prevent the event”.
About the use of space this Saturday, “the position of the Board is unequivocal: it does not authorize the event to take place and will continue to defend that decision by appropriate legal means, naturally respecting the judicial decisions that will be made.”.
“The A.C.R. Matrix deeply regrets this situation and reaffirms its commitment to transparency, responsibility and respect for the community, seeking to safeguard the good name of the institution”, she concludes.
It was initially reported that the festival would take place in the city of Maia, also in the district of Porto. Later, the municipality assured that “it has not licensed or authorized” any neonazi music festival.
