O the beginning of the wake, open to all, was scheduled for 3 p.m. and soon after several people had already climbed to the fourth floor of the building of the Voice of the Worker, in the area of Grace.
In addition to several anonymous citizens, who were leaving messages written in the two condolence books at the entrance to the hall, they were mainly figures linked to the music that passed by.
Singers such as Paulo Gonzo, Olavo Bilac, Carminho, Joana Alegre, Rita Vian, Selma Uamusse, musicians such as Cabrita, Nuno Espírito Santo, João Gil, João Correia, Manuel João Vieira, Benjamin, Francisca Cortesão (Minta), Gabriel Gomes, Camané, Gil do Carmo, Dany Silva and Romeo Bairos and also several ‘invisible’, among stage technicians, sound technicians, ‘roadies’ and ‘managers’, were among those who attended the wake.
Elements of Jorge Palma's team wore black sweaters from the 50-year career tour, in 2024, with the word “Anthology” and the list of all the albums of the musician.
Also some figures from other areas, such as actresses Paula Guedes, Maria João Luís and Ana Nave, director Manuel Pureza, ‘influencer’ Ana Garcia Martins (The Sweetest Popcorn), radiocaster Pedro Fernandes and Henrique Amaro, secretary-general of CGTP, Tiago Oliveira, and the president of the Lisbon City Hall, Carlos Coins, paid one last tribute.
Some came from flowers in their hand, especially red carnations; the same flowers formed one of the crowns that flanked the coffin. The other crown was red roses, Jorge Palma's favorite flower.
Above the urn was placed a black and white portrait of Jorge Palma. Behind, on the stage of the Salon of Vozdo Operário, was a black and white image, from Jorge Palma to the piano, used in promoting the shows dedicated to the album “Only”.
