A finnish airline Finnair recorded a net profit of EUR 108 million in the first nine months of the year, compared to the loss of 7.9 million in the same period of 2025, the carrier reported today.

Finnair's turnover between January and September grew 14.3% compared to the previous year, reaching 2,648 million euros, driven by the largest volume of passengers and cargo and by the increase in additional revenues.

The airline, the main shareholder of which is the Finnish State, obtained a gross operating profit (EBITDA) of EUR 415.4 million in this period, an increase of 61% in homologous terms.

The operating result (EBIT) in these nine months has now risen from EUR 17.9 million from 2025 to 176.4 million this year, despite the increase in fuel prices and other operational costs.

The Finnish airline transported 9.6 million passengers between January and September, an increase of 7.3% compared to the previous year, which boosted revenues with ticket sales, which increased by 13.8%, reaching EUR 2,081 million.

Turnover in this segment increased in all geographical areas where it operates, except in the Middle East, where revenues decreased by 66% due to war, to 19.7 million euros.

For the year 2026, Finnair expects global air traffic to continue to grow, although it is affected by international conflicts, global political instability and the threat of possible trade wars.

Nevertheless, the company estimates that the number of passengers will increase by 7% this year and that the annual turnover will rise to between EUR 3,500 million and EUR 3,600 million, by 3% more than the previous estimate.
