O International Monetary Fund (IMF) agreed with Guinea-Bissau on the policies needed to approve the latest revision of the Extended Credit Mechanism, allowing the disbursement of 1.6 million dollars, the financial institution announced today.
“The technical staff of the IMF and Guinea-Bissau have reached a technical agreement on economic policies that could support the twelfth and final revision of the Agreement under the Extended Credit Mechanism (ECF)”, reads in a press release.
The IMF notes that “after completion of the review by the IMF Executive Council, Guinea-Bissau will have access to approximately 1.6 million dollars,” i.e. around 1.4 million euros.
The technical agreement “reflects the strong performance of the programme and the continued commitment of the authorities to prudent macroeconomic policies, budgetary discipline and structural reforms aimed at preserving macroeconomic stability and supporting inclusive growth,” the IMF adds.
