O Government of the Azores launches this week a digital platform that aims to bring the media from the archipelago to the Azorean diaspora.

Titled Azores-Diaspora Media Alliance Association (ADMAA), the platform is the result of a partnership with the Portuguese Beyond Borders Institute (PBBI), based at the California State University in Fresno, United States.

The platform will be launched in an event dedicated to strengthening the media network between the archipelago and the diaspora, which takes place between Monday and Tuesday in Ponta Delgada.

According to a press release from the Azorean executive, the ADMAA “is a collaborative network created in order to unite the media of the Azores with the diaspora, expanding its global reach and sharing resources”.

The new platform, which is already online and available through the admaazores address. with, works as an “aggregator and an agile space for exchange of journalistic content, and will promote the exchange of subjects and the idealization of joint projects between the Azorean press and diaspora”.

The executive “recognizes the irreplaceable role of these professionals in preserving the Azorean identity and maintaining an informed and unbreakable link with the thousands of Azoreans who prestigious the region beyond the borders”.

The regional secretariat of Parliamentary Affairs and Communities, through the Regional Directorate of the Communities, will also promote next week the 4th edition of the Cinema Without Borders Show, which will be displayed in all secondary schools of the Autonomous Region of the Azores.

With the theme “Looks and plural narratives: what we gain when different cultures meet and dialogue”, the show is based on a screening and debate session, which brings together four short films of animation, in a total of 45 minutes.

The initiative invites students to reflect on migration, diversity and intercultural dialogue, around the concept of going, staying, coming back.

With this initiative, the Government of the Azores leads to the secondary schools of the Region “works of international recognition, which serve as a starting point for the debate among young people on the plurality of looks and the encounter between cultures”.
