Pre-sales began in Portugal of the new Chinese plug-in hybrid SUV. It is Dongfeng MAGE, the first car of this brand type for the national market. And we already know the price.

Chama Dongfeng MAGE, is a SUV and this is the first hybrid plugin chinese manufacturer in Portugal. Pre-sales have now started, with a price of around EUR 35,000 (including VAT).
The model uses the Mach PHREV 3 system Power, being able to manage the power source intelligently – which results in greater efficiency and better response, according to the brand.
The set integrates a 1.5 liters turbocharged engine, 4DHT hybrid transmission and 17 kWh battery, with combined power of 279 hp and a torque of 580 Mm.
There are three modes of energy (electric, energy production and 100 percent combustion). Consumptions with the battery run out are announced in 4.8 liters/100 km, but can go down to 2.2 liters/100 km with the battery charged (WLTP data). The autonomy in full electric use is 86 km (136 km in urban cycle), and total autonomy can reach 1,200 km.
Modern design
In terms of design, Dongfeng highlights that the MAGE has an active grid and door handles embedded in the body, creating a flat lateral surface. It proposes an aerodynamic silhouette, with an elaborate spoiler at the end of the roof, and robust proportions highlighted by imposing side bumpers and friezes – connected by a continuous band that also runs through the wheel holes.
The rims are light alloy and measure 19 inches and there are intelligent LED headlights in a modern design. In the front, the main headlamps are connected by a continuous band to the full width, and then vertical daytime lights in the inverted L-shaped position are found. Behind, there is a continuous light band in high position, just below the eyepiece.
Interior and resources
The 2.775 mm wheelbase ensures a very reasonable interior space in an automobile with ergonomic sports seats and panoramic roof. The multimedia system is accessed via the 14.6-inch central screen, with a six-speaker sound system.
The gear selector on a lever is inspired by the yachts, according to Dongfeng. Behind the multi-function steering wheel, there is a digital screen that serves as an instrument panel, vindicating the technological character of a carrier marked by curved formats.
In terms of cargo and storage, the trunk can carry 525 liters, expandable to 1,846 litres if the rear seats are hit. The MAGE also has 20 storage compartments. For example in the central console, which also includes cup holders and, in a separate plan, wireless charger for smartphones.
To support the driver, there are advanced level 2 driving assistance (ADAS) systems such as adaptive cruise control with stop & go, track output warning, track standby assistant and track centrer assistant as well as autonomous emergency braking.
Price and availability
O Dongfeng MAGE is already in pre-sale for 28.490 euros plus VAT – i.e. doing the math, by something around the 35,042,70 euros.
