Othe Hutis rebels attacked today with drones and missiles at Al Raiyan airport in Mukalla in eastern Yemen, without causing casualties, according to local authorities.

The Huthis military spokesperson, Yahya Sahara, claimed the attack, claiming that Saudi Arabia uses the airport to transport weapons and military equipment intended for forces loyal to the internationally recognized Yemeni government.

“The Yemeni Armed Forces conducted an operation against military equipment that the Saudi enemy had transported, through military cargo planes, to Al Raiyan airport,” Sara said.

The spokesman warned Saudi Arabia, which leads a military coalition to support the recognised government, against the use of civilian facilities for military purposes.

The local government of Hadramaut confirmed that the attack was carried out with “several drones and missiles.”.

The Ministry of Transport of the internationally recognised Government stated that the airport was hit by three drones, which fell near the runways when civil aviation operations were underway.

The local authorities informed that no victims were registered without providing detailed information on possible damage to infrastructure.

Witnesses reported the formation of dust columns in the airport area after attacks and the continued presence of drones on Mukalla.

Mukalla, the capital of Hadramaut Province, is a port town strategically located on the coast of the Arabian Sea and has important transport infrastructure.

The attack took place hours after the Hutis claimed a ballistic missile fire on a military camp in the Badr area near Aden Airport in the south of the country.

The Ministry of Transport condemned “in the strongest terms” the attacks on both airports, classifying them as “a dangerous escalation directed against vital civil infrastructure” that directly endangers passengers’ lives.

On Monday, at least 73 soldiers from government loyal forces died and about 200 were injured in a three-ballistic missile attack on the Al Alam military camp in Shabwa province attributed to the Hutis.

The attacks occur in a context of intensification of the conflict in Yemen, with new Hutis offensives along the Red Sea coast and the worsening of fighting against forces aligned with the internationally recognized Government.
