Com this review, the growth of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) became 2.6% in homologous terms and the chain variation rate was 0.9%.
As the INE explains, “in quarterly terms, there were revisions in the rates of variation of GDP in volume, maintaining the temporal profile of the behavior of the previously published variation rates”.
For the year as a whole, the government expects 2% of GDP to grow, according to the latest known projections, in the annual progress report sent to Brussels in April.
A highlight has also been released today on the annual national accounts, which shows that Portugal’s GDP reached EUR 308.5 billion in 2025, an increase of 1.9% in real terms.
“ Compared to preliminary data, the provisional results for 2025 now reflect, in addition to the direct impacts resulting from the compilation of detailed data of 2024, more solid and exhaustive information for the Public Administration sector, the inclusion of revised data on international trade in goods and the Balance of Payments (services) and, above all, the incorporation of the already available data from Simplified Business Information (SIS) for 2025”, states the INE.
