They will classify British Navy and Air Force as terrorists

O Iran today announced the classification of the Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force as terrorist organisations, and also considered the UK’s external intelligence service MI6 as a “hostile group”.

In a statement, the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the measure constitutes a “response to the hostile actions of the British Government against the Islamic Republic of Iran during the past year, including participation in the war imposed by the United States and Zionism against Iran.”.

In particular, the ministry pointed out the UK’s availability of “access to military and logistical bases and facilities” to the United States during the war that Washington launched against the Persian country on 28 February, as well as the rating in July of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard as a “threat to national security” of the United Kingdom.

With regard to MI6, Tehran justified its classification as “a hostile group” with the “cooperation with the Zionist regime and with countries hostile to national security and interests”.

“ These measures were adopted in accordance with international law and within the principle of reciprocity, and the British Government is responsible for their consequences,” the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

Relations between Tehran and London have deteriorated in recent weeks, after the United Kingdom has claimed to be “highly likely” that the alleged conspiracy against Fairford Air Base had been coordinated from Iran, pointing directly at the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.

The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has on several occasions condemned London’s “unfounded accusations”, classifying them as “a despicable conspiracy to promote the campaign against Iran”.
