“ Din the wake of the operation, security forces arrested a terrorist cell composed of ten Hamas terrorists working to promote terrorist plans against the citizens of the State of Israel,” Israeli forces said in a statement.

The troops “located a rocket without a launcher” in the area, indicated the army, adding that one of the detainees “revealed during interrogation a location where there were hidden weapons, including a assault rifle and numerous explosives.”.

“They were destroyed on site,” he said.

The operation took place just over a week after Israeli army chief Eyal Zamir ordered the deployment of troops to increase, in view of what he described as “tensions” in the West Bank, a situation marked by an increase in attacks and incursions by settlers.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) estimates the number of Palestinians killed and nearly 1,850 injured by Israeli forces and settlers so far this year in the West Bank, a growing trend since the attacks of 7 October 2023 against Israel, led by Hamas, which triggered the Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip.
