Ckristiano Ronaldo was sanctioned with 30 days of suspension by the Discipline Council of the Portuguese Football Federation, for having abandoned the internship of the national team in Copenhagen, on September 30, in a decision known this Monday.
“ In these terms and on the grounds set out above, the Council of Discipline – Non-Professional Section – of the Portuguese Football Federation decides, in the present case, to fully judge the charge and, consequently, to condemn the Arguido Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro for the practice, for once and for the first time, of the intended disciplinary infringement and
sanctioned by Article 160(1) of the RDFPF, thereby applying the suspension penalty for 30 (thirty) days and, aptly, the fine imposed at 2,5 UC, i.e. € 255.00 (tenders and fifty-five euros)”, can be read.
Thus, the CD applies the lightest penalty to Cristiano Ronaldo, since the regulation pointed to a penalty of one to six months.
“ The player who, regularly summoned, abandons or does not appear unjustifiedly the training, game or activity of national selections or related to the sports representation of FPF or Portugal, is sanctioned with suspension from one to six months and, acessorily and if he is a professional player, with a fine between 5 and 10 UC [between about 500 and 1,000 euros, with 102 euros per unit of account]”, could be read in the regulation.
What happened?
On 30 September, Cristiano Ronaldo abandoned the stage of the selection after clashing with Jorge Jesus on the eve of the struggle with Denmark, at the League of Nations.
The Portuguese star would later apologize for what happened, admitting that he should not have abandoned his teammates.
