Nthe Football City, in Oeiras, the first session on the lawn of Jesus started late, due to the heat, with the first 15 minutes open to the media, period in which the footballers did the usual warm-up exercises always with the presence of the national selector, in a personal touch of the coach of 72 years.
Both with Fernando Santos and Roberto Martínez, the initial phase of training was always the responsibility of the assistants, with their selectors watching from a distance.
Today was the opposite, with Jesus participating in the warm-up race, next to Captain Cristiano Ronaldo, and then watching closely the ball exercises, when the group was divided into two.
On the benches of Football City to attend the session was the president of the Portuguese Football Federation, Pedro Proença.
The Portuguese team again train on Wednesday, at 17:00, also in the City of Football and again with the first 15 minutes open to the media.
Portugal begins the ‘era’ Jorge Jesus, and the defense of the title of the League of Nations, on Thursday, in front of Wales, in a match of the A4 Group scheduled for 19:45, at the José Alvalade Stadium in Lisbon, which will have arbitration of Lithuanian Donatas Rumsas.
In this first qualifying ‘window’, the national team twice faces Norway, on 27 September, in Oslo, and on 4 October, at the Dragon Stadium in Porto, and in the middle, on 1 October, plays in Copenhagen with Denmark.
Portugal won two of the four editions of the League of Nations, the first in 2019, on a run-off with a 1-0 triumph against the Netherlands, in the final of the Dragon, with a goal of Gonçalo Guedes, at 60 minutes.
After the victories of France in 2021, and Spain in 2023, the selection of ‘chines’ again won the competition in 2025, this time thanks to a triumph in the decisive game against Spain, by 5-3 in the penaltis, after 2-2 in 120 minutes.
